Once upon a time ...

Yes, that's how all fairytales with a happy ending start. But we have a different story that doesn't start as a fairy tale and definitely doesn't end! The story of “Pink Pelican”.

Mario and Boyan

We are Mario and Boyan from Silistra- Bulgaria, in ascending order, in particular I’m Boyan and I’m writing these lines because Mario is in the other hall busy with one of our wines. But let's not deviate from the topic.

In 2016, just after I returned from the University, my brother and I found our company. He was still studying ‘’Wine and Beer Technology’’ in Plovdiv. You will probably ask “Why did you start a business like this, right? Why wine and why exactly “Pink Pelican”? "

The truth is that we grew up with wine-making in our parents' small family winery. They taught us that in order to do something good, you have to “burn” in your work and do it with endless love. You have to go up and forward if you want to leave a legacy.

With a lot of family support and one loan from the bank, we made our first series of wines named Srebarna in 2017. It is named after the UNESCO-protected Srebarna Nature Reserve near Silistra with Pink Pelican as one of the most famous birds species which could be seen there. The idea of our project was born exactly on my birthday...

We talked about that more people should hear about Bulgaria and Silistra, our small but "Rich" city.

To learn more about the winery and vineyards of our parents, which impress with a terroir rarely found in the world. The vinyards are located 10 km from Danube River and 90 km from Black Sea in the land of the village Kaynardzha, as is the name of the winery where we make our wines. Another valuable asset, besides the location of the vineyards, is that they are grown without the intervention of pesticides and insecticides, which contributes to the quality grapes, without which quality wine cannot be made.

Our philosophy is to make modern wines mostly from Bulgarian grape varieties that will establish a recognizable and unique style for northeastern Bulgaria.

We want to be an opportunity for more people to learn how nice it is to drink a glass of quality local wine while watching the sunset over the mighty Danube, and at the same time feel the fourth largest city in the Roman Empire- Durostorum under your feet.

They should hear the sound of the cormorant's wings while fishing alongside the local fishermen. They definitely should feel the earth shaking from the Dobrudzha dance and many other things... In short, you should know that the Bulgarian North is not so cold, in fact the people here have one of the biggest hearts!

We have also want everyone who drinks our wines, no matter where he is, to bring his consciousness here... on the banks of the Danube. So friends, if you want to meet us, just have a drink. We are here on the coast, waiting for you! Pink Pelican
